We were talking the other day—about life, love, and all the noise around marriage. And somewhere in that quiet space between questions and confessions, many thoughts settled in me:

I’m not married.
But I think about marriage often. Let’s be honest who does not in their 20s.
Not as a destination, but as a transformation.

Marriage, to me, is not about finding the right person.
It’s about becoming one.
It’s not a celebration—it’s a sanctuary.
Not a performance—but a practice.

It’s where your ego is asked to sit down,
And your honesty is asked to rise.
It’s where you stop saying, “Accept me as I am,”
And start whispering, “I will become better—for you, for us.”

Marriage is not built on grand gestures and social media posts.
It’s built in the quiet—
In the listening,
In the understanding,
In the choosing—again and again.

It’s where you meet your flaws in the mirror of another’s eyes.
Where you unlearn the baggage of your past.
And relearn the language of love, of patience, of presence.

It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about being willing.
Willing to grow,
To be seen,
To be undone and remade by love.

Marriage is not a timeline.
It’s a readiness.
A courage.
A vow to evolve.

So when someone asks, “When should one marry?”
I think—
When you’re ready to question everything you thought you knew about yourself.
When you’re ready to build a home, not just a house.
When you’re ready to love—not just another person,
But the version of yourself you’ll need to become to love them well.
That’s when.
And this readiness is the easiest yet the most difficult thing to achieve.

And perhaps the most delicate truth of all.
This becoming, this work, this beauty, it only blossoms when both hearts are willing. When two people choose to grow, at the same time, with equal grace, and shared devotion.
